I'm a member at Massage Envy

So, I have a membership at Massage Envy that allows me to get one 60 minute session per month of either a massage, facial or full body stretch. With the membership you also get discounts on additional sessions, services and discounts on retail products. Massage envy has multiple locations across the United States and the membership can be used at any location across the country which is great because if you are traveling on a business trip you can take a break from whatever it is that you are doing and get a 60 minute massage or any other service using your membership. Massage envy also has a referral program that as a member you get a free session every time you refer a friend or family member who signs up for a membership. Massage Envy also has rollover sessions just in case you skip a month, you can use unused sessions at anytime during your membership.

My Experience at Massage Envy

One day my hairstylist was telling me about how she had a membership at Massage Envy and that she had all these unused sessions that she had to use before the end of the year. That sparked my interest and I signed up for a membership at Massage Envy after my first 60 minute massage session. I liked the idea of getting massages once a month. I thought getting massages once a month would be a great way to give back to my body especially after working out. I thought it would be a great way to relax.

That first massage was just okay. The masseuse didn't go too hard on me but to be completely honest he kept sneezing and I was a tad bit uncomfortable after the first few times. It was an awkward experience. This was the second massage that I ever got in my entire life and this experience was a lot different than the first. The first time I got a massage it was a couple's massage and both me and my boyfriend were in the room together. (If you know anything about couples massages) I had a male masseuse and my boyfriend had a female and the place that we went to was local. During my first massage I felt like the masseuse was a bit rough but I enjoyed it because I knew that afterwards my body would feel great and it did. When I got my second massage at Massage Envy I knew that I wouldn't feel the affects of the massage afterwards and I sure didn't. It was like I couldn't wait for it to be over.

Anyhow, I still became a member and the next month I got another massage. This time it was a little better but at that point I felt like I didn't need to keep getting massages as frequently. So the third month I decided to book a facial. My first facial was an amazing experience. It was heavenly. During the facial the esthetician evaluated my skin to figure out exactly what my skin needed. She cleansed my face, exfoliated and toned. She did a mask. She did some extractions. (I’m probably missing a whole bunch of steps) She also massaged my arms, hands, head, face, neck and back. The whole experience was great. It was relaxing and I truly felt the benefits from this facial. I felt like my skin was clean and being taking care of in ways that it was lacking. I even bought an exfoliator and toner to take home and include this in my regime more often.

I decided that facials every month during my membership is the way to go. I feel like this will be more beneficial for me than getting massages every month because my esthetician is able to evaluate my skin every month and treat it as needed. My esthetician will also recommend products and treatments that I may need to do at home. With that being said, months into my membership I have continued to get facials as opposed to massages every month.

Do I think the membership is worth it?

Honestly, no. I don’t think that the membership is worth it. I feel like I’m being forced to pay for a massage or a facial every month because I know that I have to pay for it. If I did not have to pay every month I would probably skip a month or two and save a lot of money. Essentially there is no difference in the price that you pay for one session each month as a member or not as a member. (It’s the same price) I’m definitely not using all of the benefits and I don’t feel like I need to. I also feel like I can get the same products that they sell at discounted rates to members at Sephora when they offer sales. Lastly, I kind of feel like if I want a massage I can get one at home.

Nonetheless, I have yet to try the full body stretch which I am actually very excited to try. I will let you know how that goes.

Let me know what you think about getting massages and facials frequently, your regime and the places that you go in the comments below. : )

The body is precious. It is our vehicle for awakening. Treat it with care
